As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow’s feet become more apparent. The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle.
Dermal fillers can be used to:
- Dermal Filler suggested areas.
- Plump thin lips
- Dermal Filler suggested areas.
- Enhance shallow contours

- Dermal fillers can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation surgery.
At Highly Artistic we use the following;
Radiesse – We prefer to use Radiesse to treat scar, chronic deep wrinkles, severe soft tissues loss, or bone deficiency.
Juvederm – We use Juvederm essentially for everything else. This product is soft and generally quite tolerable by virtually all patients.
Belotero – We use this to temporarily smooth out and fill in moderate to severe nasolabial folds or wrinkles that go from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
At Highly Artistic suggest scheduling a consultation for Nuerolytic treatments as each person is different. We will discuss the pros and cons of each products in respect to patients concerns and interests.
Lip Augmentation:
There is always a legitimate concern of creating over-done lips (“duck’s lips”) when it comes to dermal filler injection to the lips. It is entirely possible to avoid this situation by simply following a few basic rules already set by Da Vinci himself. The most important rule is is to ensure that the the lower lip must be approximately 25% larger than the upper one. Most overdone lips violate this simple rule. Also, ducks don’t have philtrum. Humans do. So, recreating a flatten philtrum would help avoid duck lips.
Dr. Ha has developed a step-wise approach to perform lip injection. With the approach, he performs the injection from the cheek, step-by-step, down to the lips according to his theory of triangulation. The upper lips gradually everted in a natural way. He would ask the patient when to stop. Most of the time, the lips are everted enough without the need to inject into the lips itself. This reduces the discomfort of injection into the lips.
He almost always adjust the lower lips ensure the Da Vinci rule as discussed above.
The lady in this picture has one syringe of Juvederm to improve her lips. Note that her cheek are also fuller. The step-wise, top-down approach results in youthful lips in a very natural way. The after pictures were taken 2 weeks after the injection.
